What is SimpleRom.com?

SimpleRom.com is a tool for creating Web links for CD or DVD-ROM. It's fast, easy and Web-based. It requires no end-user installation or configuration. It's easy to open an account.

How does my SimpleRom.com disc image work?

When a user puts a CD or DVD with SimpleRom.com in a Windows computer, the disc's main feature (usually a video or music track) will begin playing in the user's default media player software. Behind the media player, the user's default Web Browser will display the Web page or url of your choice. That's it — nothing for end-users to install or learn. Sound good? Get started now.

How much does SimpleRom.com cost?

SimpleRom.com is available on a pay-as-you go (A La Carte) or Subscription basis. The A La Carte plan costs $69 per disc image, monthly subscriptions run $99 per month. SimpleROM.com is currently running a special offer for users who choose a year-long subscription — open an account to learn more.

What are the file requirements?

SimpleROM.com requires an index.htm file, which will be loaded when the CD or DVD is inserted into the user's computer. You can use any html page editor to create your index.htm file, but the file name must be exactly "index.htm". All images, CSS files and other assets the index.htm links to must reside in the same folder in the index.htm file and you must use relative urls in your index.htm file to link to your assets. (Acceptable file formats for upload on SimpleROM.com are .jpg, .gif .png, .css, .js, .swf, and .xml. The maximum combined size may not exceed 5MB, and you must at least upload an index.htm file.)                      

How do I get SimpleRom.com on my disc?

Once you have opened an account you can easily create your SimpleRom.com disc image and download it in a .zip archive. In order to create your CD or DVD Master, you must first unzip your SimpleRom.com .zip archive. Using your preferred CD or DVD Mastering application put the SimpleRom.com files in the root of your ROM partition.

What operating systems does SimpleRom.com support?

Currently SimpleRom.com only supports Microsoft Windows. Support for the MacOS and Linux is under development.

What is ROM?

ROM refers to any CD or DVD that is playable on a personal computer. DVD-ROM enables you to mix a standard "set-top" DVD experience with Web access.

What can I use to create a CD or DVD?

There are many different ways to create a CD or DVD. Consumer applications are provided by Nero, Ulead, CyberLink Sonic Solutions and others. There are also many freeware applications available. Professional applications are provided by NetBlender, Sonic Solutions, Ulead, Apple, and others. (SimpleROM.com recommends NetBlender and Sonic Solutions.)

Can I use the disc image I create more than once?

You can replicate the disc image as many times as you like, but if you want to create another title, you need another disc image.

Do you provide any support? If so how?

Since SimpleROM.com is an automated Web service, this FAQ is intended to provide all of the support that may be required. However, you may be able to find further technical information by browsing or posting a question in the SimpleROM.com Forums. End-user support is the responsibility of the disc publisher.

Can I suggest ways SimpleROM.com can be improved?
